What will you learn?
You will learn everything about studio lighting and discover exactly how different light shapers influence your image. You're going to translate the classical techniques of Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Jan Steen into modern (portrait) photography. Expect a creative boost as you experiment with diverse lighting setups, compositions, and posing to create cinematic, compelling portraits.
The Program
The masterclass begins with an in-depth presentation and a live demonstration of advanced lighting techniques. Following the demo, it's your turn behind the lens. To ensure high-quality guidance and individual attention, the group is limited to 12 participants. With two professional models on-site and multiple lighting stations ready, you'll have ample opportunity to practice and build your portfolio. During the breakout sessions professional studio light and light-shapers will be available for you to try and use, including wireless triggers.

Good to know: English only
As this workshop is conducted entirely in English, a good understanding of the language, native or learned, is required to get the most out of the sessions. If you are comfortable communicating in English, you are more than welcome to join!

Will the event take place?
If an event has to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances — such as illness or low attendance — we will notify you via email at least 3 days prior to the event. In such cases, you will receive a full refund.

Dani'el van den Berg (EN)
Dani'el is an experienced portrait, studio, and wedding photographer. In addition to working with natural light, he is frequently found in the studio for both photography sessions and workshops. Dani'el began his career as a concert and portrait photographer.
